Grandpa’s Story

My grandpa named his business “Crystal power clean.” He wrote the history of his company down, and gave it out to his customers. I have a copy of the flyer, and I thought I’d share it with you:

Crystal Power Clean had its beginning in October 1993. I began working in the cleaning industry with my grandfather Benton Hatch, who owned and operated a janitorial and emergency flood damage restoration service. I have also worked with my father Kay Jenkins, who owns and operates one of the finest carpet cleaning systems in Utah. He has over 120 franchises in thirteen states and Canada. I have owned and operated a franchise in Sandy, Utah for over 20 years.

Crystal Power Clean has been used by professional cleaning people for over thirty years and has proven to be effective having been used by several generations of family. When I began my career in the business, I would show homeowners how they could use the cleaner as a spot remover. I explained to them how safe it was around children with no harsh chemicals being non-toxic and biodegradable. I would also show them how to use the product on carpets, upholstery, walls, fabrics, baseboards, windows, wood floors, furniture, leather, clothing, jewelry, tile, and etc. Then I would explain to them how most cleaners would clean well, but leave residues that cause resoling or soap buildup. People began to ask how they could purchase the product, so I began to give them a small amount of cleaner in a glass jar. Demand increased to the point that I began to sell it in plastic milk containers for $6.00 per gallon. Over the years my customers have told their friends and neighbors about the cleaner and my volume has increased.

Today I sell the cleaner under the name of Crystal Power Clean for the price of $14.50 per gallon. People are still saving time and money by using this product in their homes. People have enjoyed the product and as a result, the product sells itself, and generates repeat customers. There is no other product on the market that is like Crystal Power Clean. I now have three carpet cleaning suppliers that carry it in their showroom for resale.

The basic cleaning principles we have learned over the years having worked in thousands of homes and offices, has helped us develop a basic cleaning philosophy. As with many professions, there have been many time saving, money saving innovative, and unique techniques that have been developed from experience. These techniques in the cleaning industry can be fun because they will reduce up to 75% of your time, work and energy. It also saves money while producing the desired result.

Through our experience, we know which products and procedures are needed to remove all types of soils or stains. We use the most gentle product approach first in cleaning. Do not automatically reach for the heavy-duty cleaner or bleach bottle first. Use neutral cleaners and gentle touch first, only when that does not work should you use something stronger.

We have found over the years that most cleaning supplies in homes are found in areas under the sink, in a pantry, or in a closet. Often, it is an accident waiting to happen with children in the home. Many cleaners are toxic and dangerous. The Utah Poison Control Center reported that household cleaning products were the number one cause of poison exposures among children because they do not understand how to use them or they forget to use them because they simply have too many under the sink.

Our goal at Crystal Power Clean is to make products that are safe and available to every consumer. We believe that our experience over many years has taught us how to excite people about basic cleaning philosophies. Using the best Products, Crystal Power Clean, combines with good cleaning philosophies, and E’OLA’s mission statement and marketing structure this goal can and will become a reality.
